Dreams Really Do Come True

Hello Everyone!

Long time, no blog. After not blogging for the past 3 months, I decided that my life has (kind of) slowed down enough for me to post regularly again. The first semester of my junior year of college is already halfway over! (How is that even possible?!) I have been so busy with school, marching band, and everything in between, that I have just not had time to post anything regularly. So without further ado, here’s my blog for the day.

It gives me great pleasure to say that, I’M MOVING TO DISNEY WORLD. That’s right, two weeks ago I was accepted into the Disney College Program for the 2016 Spring Advantage term, and I still cannot believe it. I was offered the role of my dreams as a photopass photographer! (Which still doesn’t feel real to me) I cannot believe that I am getting the opportunity to capture so much magic. I am looking forward to capturing the first time a little girl gets to meet her favorite princess or maybe or a family’s annual trip to the happiest place on earth. I am hoping that (if I am lucky), I will get the opportunity to capture a proposal. That would be the shoot of my dreams. I am so thankful for this incredible opportunity to work for The Walt Disney Company, and I cannot tell you how much joy this new experience in my life has brought me already.

On February first, I will be checking into my program and moving down to Orlando, Florida. Though I love Walt Disney World with every fiber of my being, a large part of my heart will be left behind here in the Classic City. It is going to be weird not walking past Sanford Stadium on my way to class in the morning, or not eating lunch with some of my favorite Redcoats. I will miss the crazy Georgia weather, my family, the ability to eat Your Pie for dinner whenever I want, and most importantly, I will miss some of the most incredible friends I have ever made in my life. But when August rolls around and band/ football season is beginning to pick back up, I know they will be right here in my favorite city where I left them in the Winter.

Here’s to four more months in the Dawg House, and only 17 weeks until I’m heading straight for the castle!

A Magical Independence Day

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

Today consisted of eating the typical ‘American’ food, enjoying the summer sun, and frolicking around with sparklers.

I was able to buy and DIY some decorations and we even attempted to take the sparkler writing photos too! For this blog, I took some pictures throughout the day so that it would be more of a July 4th photo album.

So enjoy some pictures of what made me smile on this American holiday. (Especially being able to watch the Patriotic Wishes livestream from Magic Kingdom! ❤ )

Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

Today is the last day of 3 Days 3 Quotes!

My final quote that I am sharing with you guys comes from one of my favorite non-princess Disney classics, Peter Pan!

“Think of all the joy you’ll find, when you leave the world behind and bid your cares goodbye.” -Peter Pan

Joy, is my favorite character from Inside Out, mainly because I am a pretty outgoing, happy person. And I love to be happy. This quote practically gives away the key to finding so much joy simply from not worry about the small things. For me, that means don’t worry about the people who are rude to you, odds are, they’re just jealous. Don’t worry if things aren’t going right or you don’t get exactly what you want, instead find the positives in what you have been given. Instead of getting caught up in other people’s problems, worry about your own. Focus on what you do have rather than what you don’t have. The wait for friends will be worth it. [And even for Prince Charming too] By letting go of all of the unnecessary worries and anxiety, you’ll be a lot happier, and probably a lot less stressed too!

Now you guys know three of my most treasured quotes! These three quotes have given me so much encouragement and wisdom, while also allowing me to relate to some of my favorite Disney characters.

Remember, “You can fly, you can fly, you can fly.”

I Love to Rain Dance

Happy Day 2 of 3 days 3 quotes!

Today I’m sharing my first favorite quote. I heard this many many years ago, back in the dancing days. As soon as I heard this quote, I knew it would stick with me for a long time.

“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” -Anonymous (Most recently linked to Vivian Green)

Often times, we forget to appreciate the small blessings we are given in life, and only focus on what lies ahead. All of the journey that it takes to get there is forgotten because we aren’t focused on the right things. Sometimes, it isn’t the start to finish, but the miles that happen in between. Instead of staying cooped up inside during the Summer storms, go out and dance in the pouring rain. It’s actually pretty fun!

If I hadn’t focused on the path it took to get to WGI, I would not have gotten the experience out of Winterguard that I was given. The friendships, choreography, and memories would have been forgotten. Sometimes, it isn’t the rides you ride or the foods that you eat, it is how you wait to ride the Tower of Terror that you remember more than the fall. Sometimes it is how you ran across the park for a turkey that makes more of a lasting impression than actually eating the delectable caveman food itself.

You have to enjoy the rain storms, the failed attempts, and the long wait times. The memories you make there can be way more joyful than riding Space Mountain itself. (Yeah, I know that’s saying a lot.. 😉 )

Until tomorrow, keep on finding the little things that make you smile.

3 Quotes 3 Days Challenge Day 1

Around two days ago, I was nominated to do my first blog themed challenge by the lovely, Kaila in Wonderland! Check out her blog at https://kailainwonderland.wordpress.com/! So for the next three days, I will be posting three of my favorite quotes and what they mean to me!

I absolutely love quotes. That one sentence can mean so much. I use quotes in everything. From bio descriptions and crafts, to encouragement, quotes are some of the most versatile things we can say or share to someone else. Or even in some cases, help ourselves in times of need.

For Day 1, I have chosen to use one of my most favorite inspirational quotes.

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” -Walt Disney

This quote means so much to me. Back in January, I submitted an application for my major. At UGA, in order to become a part of the Grady School of Journalism and Mass Communication, you must first apply and be accepted through a pretty selective process. Part of the application that you must complete is a Statement of Interest (SOI). You can only write a maximum of two pages and are only given so much time to convince Grady why they should want you, and why you want (or need) them. You mainly focus on your achievements in the field or experience, and then how Grady can help you. I explained the high school experience I gained, while also explaining how Grady can help me attain my Disney goals. In the closing of my SOI, I ended it with that quote from Walt himself. After I found out I was accepted almost two months later, that quote meant more to me than it ever had.

No matter how many people tell you that you can’t, no matter how hard you have to work, don’t ever lose the courage that it takes to achieve your dreams. If you follow your heart, try your best, and be courageous, I can assure you that your dreams will come true. Even if it is in the most unexpected way. At least that’s what Jiminy Cricket says. 🙂

My Favorite Quick Service Restaurant in Magic Kingdom.

As one of the largest quick service restaurants in the world, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe is one of my top three places to eat at Walt Disney World!

With three different food bays to choose from, any family would be satisfied with this cafe from the world of tomorrow. Located across from the Tomorrowland Motor Speedway, guests can find entrees like the generic chicken nuggets and burgers all the way to BBQ sandwiches and 1/2 Chickens!

If you are a chicken enthusiast, Bay 1 is the place for you! They offer chicken nuggets, ribs, chicken sandwiches, and my personal favorite, the 1/2 rotisserie chicken entree! Only at Bay 1 can you also find the soup of the day! The also serve fries, mashed potatoes, seasonal veggies (mainly green beans), and fruit!

Bay 2 is the place where the burgers are made! Ranging from burgers to BBQ and the sames sides as bay 1 (except for mashed potatoes), guests can also find a large toppings/condiment bar. They offer the typical veggie toppings as well as sauteed mushroom, onions, sauces, as well as the beloved plastic cheese! 😀

Bay 3, serves everything from veggie burgers to hot dogs. I personally haven’t eaten from this bay, but everyone there seemed to be enjoying their meal!

With many different seating options, guests can most of the time always find something that would love to eat. And without a drink, guest can eat under $10.00! Mine is usually $12.00 without the drink and about $14.00 with. Guests can also choose to sit in the large dining area and experience the Sonny Eclipse show! An animatronic creature from tomorrow that puts on a singing comedy show for guests of all ages to enjoy. For those who aren’t fans of the repetitive shows, you can choose to dine by Bay 1 with a Tomorrowland view, or by Bay 3, my personal favorite due to the lovely view of Main Street U.S.A. and Cinderella’s Castle.

Quick service, decent prices, great food, and beautiful views are some of the many reasons why Cosmic Ray’s is one of my all time favorites. Every time my family and I choose to eat there, my face always lights up with joy. After all, there’s nothing like a great Disney meal to make me smile.

-Savannah 🙂

*My Favorite Order: Bay 1, Entree #2, Sub fries for mashed potatoes, with honey mustard, and plastic cheese of course. ❤ *

A major emotion picture.

Disney Pixar’s Inside Out is, in my opinion, one of the most creative and brilliant films they have created and produced. Directed by Pete Doctor, Pixar journeys deep within the mind of eleven year old Riley to show how our emotions truly are the little voices inside our heads.

From the first time Riley opens her eyes, she is a Bundle of Joy. Joy is her primary emotion, filling her life with happy thoughts and great memories that build her personality traits, or islands as Pixar likes to call them. Every now and then, some angry, fearful, disgusted, and much to Joy’s dismay, sad memories form, but overall Riley has a pretty great life. Up in headquarters (clever), it is Joy’s goal to make sure that every day is a great day. Until they move to San Francisco that is, where the pizza has broccoli on it and the Golden Gate Bridge isn’t really golden. On her first day of school, the fab five tries to ensure that Riley is going to have an amazing start to her new school. Whilst introducing herself in front of her new classmates, sadness begins to mess with Riley’s joyful memories turning them blue. As Joy is beginning to get everything back in order, Sadness messes with the core memories, knocking the ‘power’ out of all of Riley’s personality islands. Joy and Sadness end up out of headquarters and in long term memory embarking on a journey throughout Riley’s mind that will hopefully send them back home.

Inside Out does an amazing job of demonstrating what a person’s mind goes through when they experience life changing events. I would love to go into detail, but I don’t want to give away too many spoilers for those who haven’t seen it yet. I would highly recommend this film to anyone. Get ready to laugh, cry, and fall in love with the little voices inside your head.

Bonus: For all the obsessed Disney people out there, I wanted to elaborate on some of the Easter eggs I have found while watching the film in theatres. As of today, I have now seen it twice, and so far, my sister and I noticed four in total. The first one I noticed (my personal favorite) is the theme song of the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disney Parks!! When Riley falls asleep the first night in her new home, she has a nightmare about this brand new city. Amongst green skies and creepy rats, you can hear the Haunted Mansion theme play in the background! The second one I noticed, was the iconic Pixar ball. When Riley is running throughout her house with her imaginary friend, Bing Bong, you can see the Ball up against the wooden bookshelf. Near the end of the film, when her new personality islands from, one can spot the Rock n’ Roller Coaster guitar on the left side! And finally, one can also spot the globe from Andy’s room in the mind of Riley’s history teacher! I am sure there are so many more Easter Eggs left to find, as I have yet to see the appearance of the Pizza Planet Truck! For those curious, John Ratzenberger does make his classic Pixar appearance as Fritz, a mind-worker near the end of the film!

*The short that is previewed before the film entitled, Lava, is also a heartwarming tale of a volcano trying to find his true love. It is a super cute short that leaves a song about Lava playing in your head all day! Just like Riley’s favorite Tripledent jingle!

I hope that you guys enjoy Inside Out as much as I did, and I hope that you too can discover what your core memories are and who your leading emotion is. Until next time, keep finding those things that make you smile!
